I don’t recall my own father giving me advice growing up on anything. I pretty much had to make my own way through life by feel.
But I’m forever giving my twin teenage daughters life advice. I guess that’s the trick to being a good parent, though. You take the goodness your own folks instilled into you…and try not to duplicate the bad parenting you grew up with.
I tell my girls all of the time, “You can do that!” I want them to know they can be writers, designers, librarians, artists, animators…their limits are bound only by their imagination.
