I am extremely paranoid. What do you DO when you are feeling paranoid, and/or extremely paranoid?
I have noise cancelling over ear headphones.
When I am paranoid, or having thinking / thought issues, I tend to drown out my brain with loud music
To be honest, my anxiety and paranoia feed off each other
Since I have been on Pregabalin, the anxiety has reduced so far that I can go out in public again without an excessive fear of other people
I still get super paranoid though
At my new job, I am practising off-handing these types of thought and anger issues in order to keep calm and practical/level-headed
Like anything you’ll find a way to deal with it
Even as I kid I was worst case scenario and used to ask hostess when was the plane going to crash when I was 3
@Joker glad to hear you’ve found some things that work for you. The loud music thing works for me as well, but I had to give up headphones while walking because I couldn’t get my audio scan and that’s an important part of my hypervigilence, I’ve trained myself to have directional and proximity hearing
I usually react to the paranoia. Sometimes it is uneventful, sometimes I get very angry/belligerent. I try and talk to someone if I can catch it before I think or react to it. Glad to have my parents around to help with the self-dialogue. Also, it would be a good idea for me to let my psydoc know. I may have to up my dosage.
I get highly paranoid in public and latch on to people i think are following, once i get confirmation that people are following me i get distressed
I do the music thing, too, but more often I take one of my PRNs. I have a second AP as a PRN, and it usually soothes my brain enough to calm down the paranoia a little. If I’m not in a position to take it, I think I just white knuckle through it. Not sure this is a helpful answer. Sorry.
