So my mom and I have been working on potty training with my 1 year old doggie named Oscar! And I’m happy to say he has been using both reusable puppy pads and outside consistently for over a month now! I’m so proud of my young man of a pup!
dogs are really cute
my mum has a guide dog and she just got a kitten,
i am a bit worried bc the kitten keeps annoying the guide dog and i would hate the guide dog to get a claw in its eye but thats worst case scenario, it is a cute wee kitten though
How about wouldn’t I hate for your kitten to get its head bitten off by the dog??!! @mrhappy
@SkinnyMe I would say the same but @drwho said
Meaning this dog is more than likely a service dog meaning it has been through not only a lot and I mean A LOT of training but also introduced to different situations and animals and even went through a test or two to make sure NOTHING will happen, service dogs are even taught if something attacks do not engage! It’s really cool in a way… It costs a lot for the test to be done though and if you pay someone to do the training for you ugh that’s pricy too and to make things worse you’d have to pay for the test on top of the training if you choose to pay for training
its all done voluntary and charitably through guidedogs charity uk
yes she is trained very well but it is very worrying bc it means she wont stick up or defend herself and that’s why i worry about her eyes, if she could just growl at the cat a little bit it may make the kitty to think twice, i dont think the kitty will go that far though, in fairness its a crazy little kitty and i think its just play.
well done for potty training your dog its a good first step when training an animal
Well done UK
Yeah kittens never mean to harm they just wanna have fun! Same with puppies! I’m sure all will be well though.
Thanks, it took a bit to get him to this point! He’s such a good boy
I think puppies and kittens are just little balls of energy when they are young they are just wanting to play, I have to admit the little kitty annoys me a bit and idk why, like she is cute as a button but maybe i’m just not use to it.
I have just agreed to watch the guide dog for a week in may as well lol, my mum is going on holiday for a week, with guide a friend.
@Twialine So you’re saying that it costs a lot of money to have a dog trained as a guide dog in the U.S?
That’s awesome! How did you train him to go potty on the pads?
@SkinnyMe very much so!
@LilyoftheValley well we started with the throw away pads but when he’d go pee on the floor we would dip the pad in it before cleaning it up and using a deodorizer so he couldn’t smell it and put a little bit of his poop on it too and walk him to it though out the day along with getting in at least two walks a day and when he started using the pad we would point at the pad and say good boy in a really excited voice and pet him before cleaning it. Now when a pad is peed on twice we press a clean pad top down and the dirty and step on it a few times to get a small scent of pee on it, if he peed on the floor after about a week of showing him he pad dip a paper towel in the pee and gently rub it to his nose saying no he’ll get the idea, as for the reusable puppy pads it was easy to switch from throw away kinds to washable just put the throw away on top of the reusable and after a bit don’t put down the throw away kind
Wow. That doesn’t sound easy. But I’m happy for you for figuring out further earlier how to do it
@LilyoftheValley it’s all about being consistent and punishment reward. He’s pretty smart thankfully
