One last shot at school

@everhopeful I’m doing it for you!!! Jk i’m doing it for MYSELF. But so there was this course I wanted to take in the fall but it’s only for freshman-sophomores. It’s in environmental studies. Remember I wanted to be an environmental studies major??? Well I switched to writing because I didn’t know how to work the email system at that point and couldn’t email the professor to get a waiver for the course, and then the other environmental studies courses were filled up… So now I’m emailing the correct way to get into this class for freshman-sophomores. The class repeats from the fall. it’s a really good course. If I don’t get the waiver to get into the course, then say bye bye to school for me, but if I do get the waiver I will try to pursue my real dream, environmental studies to become an ornithologist and study birds. So wish me luck!!!

Woa! This is good news. I really hope this works out. Getting any qualification is good, and it’s going to be easier if you have an interest in the subject.

Fingers crossed this goes well!

there are other ways to get waivers from professors. but you have to be bold… :dark_sunglasses:

I write about birds sometimes. we should do a co-op poem together about all the different birds.

Wow, I didn’t realise that. That’s even better news. Nows the time to do it, while you’re still young.

How’s your reading ability? You seem to be able to read ‘the way of the owl’, so it can’t be too bad.

If you want to be an ornithologist why wouldn’t you major in biology?

Too hard. Environmental studies is better.

BTW I found a second class that works for environmental studies. It’s about the north and south pole. So I registered for that. If the professor doesn’t email me back I’m just gonna take this. So I’m staying in school. Thanks guys for all your supports.

I hope you don’t mean bye-bye forever. Because it might not have to be that way. I started at a community college in 1985, 5 years after I was diagnosed. I was 25.

I took a few classes for a year. Then my education was interupted by a nasty crack addiction. I also had a mental health relapse at the end of my addiction. I got clean in 1990 when I was 30 and moved into a board & care home. i started up college again while I was there and took two classes at a time for 5 years. I stopped again until 2010. Sorry about all the confusing numbers but my point is that I had huge gaps in my education. Now I’m 55 years old. I need three more classes for my AA degree.

People may think that at my age a degree is useless. Well, like my dad told me, even if I never use my degree to work in my field of study. my degree will still be valuable when I apply for other new jobs. A diploma shows a prospective employer that I have qualities that make me a valuable employee. A degree proves I have commitment, dedication, persistence, motivation and other things that an employer is looking for in a prospective employee. Anyways, I hope you get something out of this. Good luck.

a long history of work experience can do that too, and can do that better, whereas a degree narrows down your skills to a particular field and shows little to no work experience in that field, no?

I’d rather enroll just to meet college students. :sunglasses:

If you’re taking out student loans consider that you have to repay them someday. I have $70,000 in debt and the interest makes it more each day. Yes I have a degree now but with no experience I’m finding it incredibly hard to find employment. Consider picking a major that will pay the bills. Just my two cents. :sunny:
