On oral Risperdal

I’m no longer on Risperdal Consta shots. I’m now on oral Risperdal 2 mg every night. Along with Geodon 240 mg, and Seroquel 100 mg every night, and Celexa 20 mg every day.

My voices are gone. The night before last, I only got about 5.5 hours of sleep and last night I was paranoid: I was thinking that my best friend of 18 years had a lover on the side, unbeknownst to me. And I was jealous!!! I was also thinking that she was after my money. And always has been.

Later, as I was laying in bed, I could feel the bed moving up against me. Like tactile hallucinations. I was also smelling weird chemical smells like olfactory hallucinations. The hallucinations didn’t bother me. The paranoia did bother me a lot. I was exhausted but not sleepy. So, I took 0.5 mg of Klonipin and fell asleep for 10 hours. When I awoke, I felt great with no symptoms.

That could just be the level of risperdal in your system as it leaves your body talk to your pdoc for more input.

Why did you stop the injection? Do you prefer to take tablets?

Yes, I much prefer tablets. The shots not only hurt like heck sometimes but it is totally inconvenient to have to go into the clinic every two weeks for a shot.

I’m on 4mg of Risperdal tablets
Maybe 2 mg is too low of a dose @SkinnyMe

I split my Risperdal doses into two

2mg in the morning and 2mg at bedtime, this way the medication is spread out evenly into my system all day.

@Wave, I like to let my pdocs decide on the type of psych meds I should take and on the dosages as well. My nurses training did not prepare me for prescribing.

No I’m not telling you how much Risperdal you should be taking @SkinnyMe

I was just giving you an example of how my psychiatrist was prescribing it to me that’s all.
