So long as a cure is not available, things regarding trying to lessen the damage
caused by schizophrenia are valuable.

The results of the study support the previous observations carried out in older individuals and patients with mild cognitive impairment, indicating that n-3 PUFA may have neuroprotective properties, especially at early stages of neurodegenerative diseases, such as schizophrenia. If replicated, the results of the present study may encourage clinicians to consider n-3 PUFA as a promising addition to antipsychotics for long-term treatment of schizophrenia.

If I’m not mistaken, this “OFFER” study was one that did not find a reduction in conversion to psychosis in prodromal sz with fish oil vs placebo. But it clearly did something, as the scans show.

I read the “OFFER” study too, and they had only about 10% of the participants in both arms have psychosis during the study - which is a low rate.
