Has anyone lost weight while on Olanzapine? (Zyprexa)
Not me, i stopped taking it but the metabolic effects like cholesterol kept climbing.
Oh h*ll no. That stuff is known for stimulating appetite. A doctor once thought I’d been losing too much weight and stuck me on it. It wasn’t a concern for long.
Yep… tell me about it haha. I’m on Olanzapine and i’m always hungry but since the new year started ive been eating way less. Im gonna weigh myself on the 7th and see if Ive lost any weight in a week
I lost 3 kilos on Olanzapine. I went from 57 kg to 54 kg this year.
No. I gained 20kg (55/60 to 80kg or so) in a few weeks. I craved to eat hands full of sugar. All I did was eat and sleep. I started withdrawing after a few weeks, took a few months to get to zero, but my metabolism and endocrine system were broken by then. I used to be energetic, atletic, skinny and easily underweight. I ate everything and would still lose. After Zyprexa I’m lazy, curvy and easily overweight. I easily gain, even with healthy food. I am researching ways to kickstart my metabolism again. Maybe exercising more, or fasting. I did change to a healthier diet now, which I hope helps.
I take olanzapine 10 mg. BUT I started fasting for 12 to 16 hours a day and count calories. Remember to drink a lot of water during your fast. Started losing after doing that. As said here: Losing Weight on Olanzapine (Zyprexa)
Cool!
I was thinking of fasting, or intermittent fasting. I tried it for a bit, but quit. I felt I had a lot of deficiencies and addictions (sugar) that I needed to address first. Great that it helps you. I’ve heard it heals the gut, improves metabolism and is good for mental health. But I never really know what is the hype and what is real. Good that it helps you.
What type of IF do you practice?
