Odd "symptoms" of schizophrenia

That’s interesting. I always thought that in order to hallucinate, you have to have your eyes open by definition.

Nope! Closed eye hallucinations are a thing, look them up. I get them all the time. It is really interesting, when it’s not scary, ha.

A psychiatrist long ago once asked me if I ever see things that aren’t there with my eyes open, specifically. She asked me this because I told her that sometimes I see things with my eyes closed while drifting off to sleep. I guess that if you see things while you are almost asleep, that is more like dreamland.

Those are a different kind of hallucination called hypnagogic hallucinations. Happen when you’re on the verge of sleep or waking up, and are actually fairly common among the general population.

Hallucinations are a bit more prevalent than one would think.

I’m hearing “voices” right now. But they are faint, and I can’t make out what they are saying, and they don’t bother me in the least. These are the only kind of voices I usually hear. I am lucky that way.

I think a certain amount of CEVs are also fairly common among the general population

What is a CEV?..

my most odd symptom would probably have to be losing an hour from spacing out. i dont even know its happening. because im not even having thoughts. just frozen. people have to snap or touch me to “wake” me up. this has been happening most my life i think its just my brain being like “woah im overwhelmed, time to turn off for a while”

I know what you mean now. I recently was hospitalized and had to go off my psych meds for two days and nights under observation, and when I went home, I was still hallucinating and I experienced some of these “closed eye” hallucinations that you describe, among others. They would start out really beautiful and end up really, really scary.
