OCD better after reducing clozapine

I reduced my clozapine from 200mg to 175mg. I’m finally feeling like I’m able to control my compulsions through reasoning.

Earlier like i mentioned i washed my eyes 10 times in 1 hour, in this situation i knew my eyes were clean but i was still washing it like an idiot.

But I feel my ocd can be much better if i further reduce my clozapine to 150mg from 175mg. But on 150mg i feel like crying so i can’t take it.

I’m searching for another augmentation antipsychotic which will control my positive symptoms so that i can further decrease clozapine. But i feel my options r limited

Following antipsychotics have failed:

Aripiprazole(worsening paranoia/anxiety), Blonanserin(sexual dysfunction), Flupentixol(still paranoid), olanzapine(cognitive decline), paliperidone(extreme EPS), quetiapine(seizures), risperidone(massive panic attack/crying)

Worsening OCD usually means your cognition getting worse so never stick with drugs which worsens OCD.

You should definitely try phosphatidylserine soy version quickly if you are serious about reducing OCD symptoms. It basically improves your working memory which is the main reason for OCD. In OCD impulsive behaviour is what contributing to obsession and compulsion. Improving working memory automatically reduces impulsive behaviour.

200mg clozapine couldn’t control my voices, so we upped to 300mg

Met with another pdoc. He agrees and says i have clozapine induced ocd. He said i have tried most of the popular meds and said I should give CBT more time cuz I had only 3 sessions. He told me to keep myself busy. I told him my compulsions are very extreme and trying to reason it out is not working.

On the med side, we discussed and decided we should try amisulpride 50mg again and slowly decrease clozapine.

Check this article its about schizophrenia with OCD.

https://neuro.psychiatryonline.org/doi/full/10.1176/jnp.12.1.16

Considering the high frequency of motor symptoms in this population, we would suggest that conventional neuroleptics be used with caution. Novel antipsychotics were well tolerated by our schizophrenic subjects with OCD, and in 2 subjects, OCD improved on monotherapy with clozapine. We should note that other authors have reported an induction of OCD with clozapine treatment.72 It was our clinical impression that benzodiazepines were particularly effective in treating both catatonic symptoms and akathisia in these subjects.

Do you experience motor symptoms like this girl experiencing in this video? 0:14 seconds she asked to walk. See her reduced hand swings during walk which is a motor symptom.

@clinic…can quetiapine cause cramps? im on it and am urious

phosphatidylserine
Is this better than sarcosine you were saying?

That’s EPS side effect. PseudoParkinson. I had that when I took paliperidone and forgot to take my artane(Trihexyphenidyl).

I don’t have that now. If it comes when I increase my amisulpride, then I can add artane.

I got off my Invega shot nearly a year ago
EPS took about 3 years to subside
Still kind of go through dystonia here and there
I’m only on lamictal now

Phosphatidylserine soy version improves cognition, reduces anxiety etc thus very useful for reducing ocd symptoms, negative symptoms etc. Yes its better that sacrocine in terms of mental effect. Also it gives lasting effect so even if not take it for few days the effects not go away.

Thanks a lot for letting me know, I experience this behaviour though I not take any anti psyhotics experience this lack of emotion, reduced hand swings for over 10 years now.

ok creating a new thread for ocd.

I found Tulsi aka Holy Basil very useful for OCD. It improves working memory and it makes easy to ignore obsessions and compulsions. Must try it especially if have OCD tendencies. Tulsi available in both tea form and in capsule both useful.

Update: Hi guys, so i took amisulpride 50-100mg(50mg for 4 days and then 100mg for 3 days) for 1 week. And within a week prolactin shot up to 45ng/ml (2-17).

Last year when i tried the same med for 1 week(50mg for 4 days and then 100mg for 3 days), it shot up to 53 ng/ml (2-17)

So it fluctuates in 50s.

I’m stopping amisulpride for now. I can’t accept its long term side effects.

Any suggestions ?
