i’ve been taking 60 mg geodon for a while now (about two months), but i’ve seen no improvement. my voices are still as persistent as ever, and i think i’ve actually been visually hallucinating more. i see my psychiatrist in about two weeks; should i try to increase the dosage or just try a different medication?
Have you been taking the pills with at least 500 calories every time? If not, that could be your problem. It needs a full meal to be absorbed properly.
If you’ve been eating and it’s still not helping, then yeah, talk to your doctor about your other options. They may want to try a higher dose or they may want to switch. Geodon can go up to 160 mg
Also, are you taking it once a day or twice? Many people need an AM and PM dose to feel truly stable on geodon.
i have been taking it twice a day with food, although it’s been more like 400 calories instead of 500. i have some issues with eating so two 500 calorie meals a day is kinda difficult for me
Then yeah, a different med would probably be better for you. You NEED full meals with Geodon.
give Amisulpride a try. All meds I have tried make me gain a lot of weight but not geodon
I’m on lurasidone. My pdoc said to take it at night, nothing about food. It takes my anxiety down a notch from terror to high anxiety. That’s about it, it doesn’t lower my psychotic symptoms. I’ve just accepted that & mask them in public to protect my reputation.
Hope you can get a better outcome with meds, good luck.
You could try Lion’s mane, either the powder or Amyloban 3399, along with your medication. I’ve been taking Amyloban for about 2 months now and no new voices have been coming out and the ones that have been with me for years are less frequent and hardly noticeable. If you get the powder get it from Real Mushrooms brand or from Nootropics Depot. So far that and lecithin have been the most help for me so far (and I’ve been experimenting with supplements for years.)
I take 80 x 2 Geodon with 400 x 2 Seroquel daily, it manages my symptoms very well, but you have to find what works best for you. Maybe you could get a med. increase and add another med., like perhaps Seroquel. I wouldn’t give up on Geodon yet.
You definitely need to be taking it with food. I doubt your doctor would mention it, but your pharmacist should have.
