Not keeping on top of things

Just had short visit from my step daughter. She had a quick blitz and cut my hair. She’s concerned I am not keeping on top of things household wise. Made a play to get me to move down to hers. I know she’d like me to but I don’t want to give up a secure council place.
I told her I too knew I was struggling to keep the place clean and that I had emailed Age UK re their home helps service for the over 50s. I asked whether she would be less concerned if I got someone in to clean. She said yes so long as they did a good job. She has bad memories of the person who came in to clean when my wife was ill.

Can you break it down ? It helps me to do a bit each day. I couldn’t wait for things to pile up and do everything that once.

So for instance dishes are generally done at the end of the day, I pick up after myself as the day is going.

I’ll generally do laundry prob twice a week unless bedding needs doing (that’s cause I have a huge bed so the sheets take up a load)

I’ll just try and be aware if I’m cooking that if something gets on the floor or splatters somewhere I just get a wipe and wipe it up and bin it.

Everyone is different but for me this way things don’t pile up and suddenly everything needs doing which will take hours. It’s just a minute here and there that’s all.

I’d look into the home help thing too. Good luck

Sounds like your step daughter had become your motivator.

I’m definitely not on top of things either… I mean, every once in a while I clean the whole place up, but in between it quickly gets messy. Right now it looks pretty decent, but only cause a friend offered to help me clean… Please don’t feel embarrassed or anything to call in help.
