I’m trying to get away from current events and politics. I watch way to much political content on YouTube and it’s not the greatest for my mental health or well being. It’s the main thing in my YouTube feed. So this morning I have a movie playing and I’m on this forum. A lot of it is toxic though I try to stay away from the more toxic stuff and focus on what’s going on more so than the conspiracies or grand ideas about what’s “actually” happening. Anyone have something toxic in their life that they’d like to engage with less?
I’d like to watch the news less. I know I should just read the headlines and articles I’m interested in on Google News instead of watching hours of news on TV I don’t care about but I still watch the news anyways.
I spend too much time on my phone and laptop.
I need to get back to the real world at some point.
I’m the same way. I watch it on YouTube though. I’ve thought about switching to print only as well.
I get my news from a Financial Newspaper. They are not all into ‘the drama’, which I like.
Yeah I have a few things I do where I unplug. Day treatment is the main one. I can’t go back though until I get my insurance. When I’m at home though I’m plugged in. I think it’s about just finding activities to do where you’re not plugged in. I play disc golf sometimes, babysit, and have walked in the past. As long as I do some of that I’m not worried that I’m on my phone when home.
Reminds me of the matrix ![]()
Yeah it’s pretty much what I do when I’m home alone.
Me too. That or cooking. Or sometimes I just listen to music.
Yeah all you need is another activity really. That’s when I get off my phone.
For me, it related to politics and news, but it’s more along the vein of contention due to political discussions. I could do better to be more Christlike in that regard
Waiting to see how long the not a politics thread takes to turn into a politics thread.
