Nostalgia and eBay

Do you ever go on eBay in a fit of nostalgia?

I threw out all my vintage computer magazines while a bit psychotic about 15 years ago. There were about 30 of them but they were quite rare. I really regret it.

I’ve since bought the most important one (to me anyway) on eBay. And tonight I bought another one.

Having those 2 takes the sting out of things a little bit.

Do you ever go on eBay for a trip down memory lane?

Yeah, every Beatle CD wasn’t sold in stores but I got the rest of my collection on eBay.

Oh all the time.

I look up all kinds of stuff on eBay. Old comic book prices, old punk records, vintage shoes.

I mostly just window shop on there but once in a while I’ll buy something.

Yeah. For sure.

I went psychotic I gave all my role playing stuff to my brother in law not knowing my sister was just about to break up with him…So regret as it was all lots of amazing stuff that even 5 years later I could have profited off let alone 10-15.

Bastardo! I could have tidied up a good profit which could have paid for the cigarettes in my life at the time…!

I look up my BMW E30 I had years ago

It was a wreck and only cost £250 at the time

Now they sell for thousands and considered vintage

Mostly what I purchased on eBay were cameras that I wanted when I was younger but could not afford, and that are now pennies on the dollar. Some are ridiculous like the Kodak EK-6, which was a Polaroid rip-off that caused Kodak to get their hoop cleaned in court. You can’t get film for it, but I bought one anyhow because I wanted it so badly when it was new.

Some of the other cameras I wanted but could not have I do have now and enjoy using like my Sears KS Super. It’s a re-badged and somewhat crippled Ricoh XR-6 (which I also have), but I didn’t know that at the time. It was in the Sears Christmas Wish Book in 1983 when I was fifteen. I wanted it, but could not afford it. Scored one for about $40 in good nick off eBay and it came with the Sears 50mm f2 lens, which is fantastic (I think also Ricoh). The Sears and Ricoh bodies use Pentax K-mount lenses and I have those in droves.

It’s fun to shoot the odd roll in it these days.
