No diagnosis anymore

So i had a talk with my psychiatrist, i once posted that my break lasted less than 3 days. So i told her that and that i wonder after 5 years i am still on medication. So she really delved into my file and what was registered was that i was manic with some psychotic features but not completely disconnected and agitated. So the meds were only used to calm me down, as a mood stabilizer. Once my mood cleared up i was back to my relaxed self. I had panic attacks the last 6 months, related to my fathers death.this happend 2 times. She said that we wil see if this happens again i can stop the meds. She also said my diagnosis is not correct

That’s great news!

I would be very happy to hear that my diagnosis has changed. That would probably mean that I’m functioning too well to carry the sz diagnosis.

Yes its weird but things in a different perspective, like it drops the stigma. I truly believe that its more of a spectrum and things can change. This is also becoming the approach in the Netherlands. Do u know the website psychosenet.be?

Yes I do. I’m enrolled on both the dutch and Belgian newsletter of psychosenet.

But not all psychiatrists agree with the Jim Van Os approach to psychiatry.

My pdoc is more conservative and skeptical.

Yes i have noticed the same in my treatment it kinda depends on how they view it. I do think giving people a definitive diagnosis can really mess up their self worth and focus to heavy on symptoms. Everyone has for example paranoid thoughts.

I think this debate has been going on for decades and will take more decades to get sorted if at all.

The recovery focus works two ways. Sometimes it helps people to give perspective, but sometimes it’s also an excuse to cut off benefits.

I think it’s best to view everyone on a case by case basis. But improvement is definitely possible.

Bipolar is often associated with sensitive artists who experience up and downs.

Sz is still associated with axe murderers

Yeah exactly, although schizophrenia is starting to intrigue people

I once murdered an axe by smashing it against a large rock. So maybe it was my destiny…

I once ruined my chefs knife by trying to chop bamboo with it. One of the top ten stupidest things I have ever done in my life.
