Welcome to the forum!
It’s not uncommon to question your diagnosis, but I would try to work together with your psychiatrist for the best possible outcome.
Hi there, and welcome! I agree with @Jonathan2 in that a lot of people question the dx, even after years of evidence supporting it. You can learn a lot on the forum here. People are generally friendly, but some of us may be blunt, so if you are told you need a med adjustment from time to time, consider it seriously instead of offensively. We try to look out for each other. Very glad you’re here.
Welcome mate. Alot of people dont want the impact of the diagnosis told to them. It can be quite shocking to basically admit you have lost the plot. But remember, that label is not given out lightly - and trust me you haven’t conned them, your not faking it.
The sooner you can accept it, the quicker your recovery will be. Its not the end of the world - most of the time, its highly treatable.
You may have to make some emotional adjustments tho. Sounds mad, but by not exactly trusting what your brain is telling you. Its gonna play tricks on you - and you are going to have bad days. But its do-able x

You can’t control the diagnosis, but you have more control over the outcome than you think. There are lots of people with SZ living good lives. I’m one of them. There is still lots of hope.
Welcome to the community.
Ok sorry will post tomorrow x
Don’t drink and smoke, wait for new medicine ulotaront is quite good for mild schizophrenia and has very tolerable side effect profile
if you drink that’s dual diagnosis…addiction and mental illness…it’s common to doubt your diagnosis…I told myself that and then quit taking my meds after my first psychotic break and ended up almost being homeless for seven months out of my mind…it’s too risky…trust your diagnosis and take your meds !!

The 1515 or other numbers at the end of peoples posts are because there’s a 15 character minimum to post. So people put 15s after until they get to the minimum characters to post.

are you currently studying or working? the diagnosis may disrupt it a bit
Welcome to this forum community. One of the first things I learned when I was new to my condition is that we tend to believe our lives have become very limited. It takes time and acceptance and treatment to realize that we’re not as limited as we thought. We can still do most of the things regular people can do but we require treatment. You may even come to the conclusion that sz can actually have benefits like ultra creativity, compassion, patience, resourcefulness, and a unique way of thinking. Welcome and I wish you the best.
It’s hard to come to grips with diagnosis. After a while you should start to realise you have a serious illness.
You’ll be on a learning path.
Thank you everyone for the replies.
I also have autism which is making things more difficult the black and white thinking is making harder to come to terms with the diagnosis i can hear the voices so therefore they are real.
