New psychiatrist/therapist experiences

I was in an early psychosis clinic, and they told me it’s time I start seeing a different group. I had been meeting with them for 7 years. I’m pretty nervous, to be honest. I have only had one psychiatrist and he was very knowledgeable.

I’m really hoping this new doctor and therapist are as helpful as the old group. At least it’ll be a shorter drive for me  as they are closer to home.

Anyone have stories (hopefully good) about seeing new doctors?

My old doctor retired, and I was unexpectedly reassigned to another doctor without any say in the matter. I ended up liking the new doctor much more than the old one.

I had a nurse practitioner I really liked but now she does Home visits for veterans too disabled to come to the VA so I see a psychiatrist now. He is okay but I liked the NP better but she didn’t like writing my Xanax prescription.

I have seen more than a dozen doctors though in the last ten years. They all pretty much go with the meds your last doctor prescribed. All the docs have been okay but I had one therapist who was a complete nut job so don’t be surprised if you have to shop around.
