I have an appointment with my pdoc next month. I used to go to this pdoc a long time ago and I didn’t like him, but he’s the only one in town that takes my insurance and my normal dr says I’m out of his area of expertise so he referred me to my old pdoc. So I’m nervous to go back to this pdoc. Plus he’s a Male and I was abused by a Male growing up so I don’t get a long with men
You have nothing to lose so go see them! If they are professional and knowledgeable then it’s not a stretch!
I know it’s hard if you’ve been through some issues but go in expecting some good treatment! It’s not rocket science but you do need to stick up for yourself in some instances! You really do!
Hmm, have you tried seeing a therapist? I share your experience with pdocs that are less than ideal when it comes to establishing a relationship with them. In my case, they normally tend to just ask, “do you have thoughts of harming yourself or others” and prescribe medication.
Therapists, on the other hand, are truly a joy to speak to regarding my problems. Nonetheless, try not to let your past experiences dictate your future relationships with another person. It’s hard. I know. But try!
I do, I have an amazing therapist that I’ve been working with for 4 and a half years and I wouldn’t be here without her help.
