New meds coming soon difference?

Do you think I will get back to being active as I was before with the new meds like sep 363856 or karxt because they don’t deal with dopamine 2 receptors ? Or what do you think these new meds will do as compared to these we have now ?

Yes. I think we are reaching the maximum efficiency for the second generation antipsychotics and it’s newer refinements that are desperately needed. I’m hoping we will get those tweaks that work well and it’s always something needed for us as a community. Here’s hoping.

It hard to guess about approval. Maybe 18 months minimum, but likely more for usa.

My experience over the years is that new meds tend to be a “little” better, but not a “lot” better. They help me maintain baseline function at best. I get the extra pep from CBT and therapy.

They say that this century will be “the century of the brain”, because they’re getting the neural circuits mapped out, and they’re learning how to influence these circuits. I believe that when they make new and better psychotropic drugs for us they’re are mapping out those circuits. Our increasing ability to alter brain behavior has some disconcerting implications, but it will be a while before we can manipulate neural circuits substantially.
