ETA on a new Antipsychotic

Ok folks step right up, anyone who has been following the progress of new meds in the pipeline, what’s your estimate on when we will have better antipsychotics?

Hello MG

What symptoms should the new AP be better at treating ? For negatives we will hopefully have min-101 by 2020. I personally don’t care about other symptoms so I haven’t followed the news closely…

In my country may be 2030…so poor…!!!

I think for the most part the ones we have now do a good job, it’s just that they are unbearable to take. I don’t have negative symptoms but I might as well because the meds we have today flatten me out.
Hopefully in the future they will have a med that specifically addresses the problem area of the brain rather than just blocks numerous receptors and happens to prevent psychotic episodes. If they treat negative symptoms too, then all the better for those who have them. Apparently it’s a major unmet need.

I think iti-007 might still make it to market in 2017 in the USA . Then we have min-101 to look forward to.

I would say that we will be seeing better APs starting in a couple of years.

Let’s hope so. If ITI still comes out then that will hold us over for a couple years till something even better comes out. Hopefully the ball will get rolling and things will just keep improving from there.

Are you people sure ITI 007 will come out in the USA in 2017 ?

No, not sure. But the iti-007 people are taking to the FDA.

Intra-cellular has to find out if it even will be allowed to make an NDA New Drug Application based on last Phase 3 results. If so, it will have to prepare the application, which will take months. Then the FDA would look at the application for up to 9 months.
Of course, with a new president and new head of FDA, things could change.

The serotonin antagonists look the most interesting. Iti-007,min-101, tak-something, etc.

Have you ever thought about living abroad?

What’s the difference between negative and positive symptoms I don’t necessarily understand these phrases very well?

Positive symptoms are: hallucinations, delusions, paranoia
Negative symptoms are: lack of motivation, apathy, flat emotions etc…

Positive symptoms are what we’re supposed to be protected against with current antipsychotics. Voices, delusions, hallucinations.
Negative symptoms aren’t treatable at the moment.
Lack of motivation, can’t feel joy, can’t self groom etc.

What if I told you rTMS could potentially control your negative symptoms?

That’s the experiment I’m having-I’m first putting the magnets on the mood portion of the brain and treating the depression and lack of motivation and feelings of hopelessness etc.

But after that we may turn the magnets to a different portion of the brain that treats auditory hallucinations and tactiles also.

Five weeks experimenting on myself with this technology-wish me luck!

I hope it works for you. Definitely let me know if you don’t mind. I’m seriously thinking about doing it. I’m on Prozac, lamictal, latuda. And still can’t get over the emptiness and hopelessness. I did 4 rounds of ect about ten years ago but it was just too frightening. I couldn’t see it through. I sincerely hope you get some relief from this therapy.
That would give me some hope for myself. The doctor says I have serious depression so if these antidepressants don’t work I’m gonna do the magnetic stim. I’m trying not to yet high at the moment. The pain is unbareable. I’m sure you can relate.

I understand a bunch. I’m trying to make it to a good state of mind and I’ll let you know as the treatment goes along how things go.
