New health care act

I didn’t understand all of it but from what I did understand mental health issues can now be charged higher premiums for pre existing conditions

I (We) will be paying more for our healthcare insurance.
This really pisses me off.

Folks, let’s try to keep this discussion focused on health care and not on political debate. I realize there is some gray area here, because this is a very political move, but I don’t want to have to shut down the thread. It’s important stuff, and needs to be discussed. But please limit your comments to how the health care bill will affect us.

I’m surprised this takes anybody by surprise.

sorry @Ninjastar, I just hope it doesn’t ruin the Medicaid program hoosier care connect that I am a part of. its bad enough I had to switch Medicaid providers once now I may have to do it again because of anthem leaving HCC

Yeah, personally, I rely on Medicaid as well. At this point I do not know how I’ll be affected. I was always too poor for Obamacare.

yeah that’s how I feel. when the Affordable care act went into affect I could get Medicaid then the other previsions of the act passed and now I don’t pay for meds or rides to the doctors but I don’t know if these new bills will let me keep my Medicaid.

Yeah I’m kinda worried about my state insurance and being denied because of preexisting conditions. I hear that it will be an uphill battle in the senate though.

I don’t even want to read the article. This upsets me, if anyone wanted to know my feelings…

Ok so I see here we, including myself, are concerned about if we will get to keep Medicaid. I bet there is some fancy words in there that will probably be used to trick what it means to outsiders.

I’m on Medicaid and Medicare as well because when my Dad put me on his insurance years ago, they switched me to both and refused to get me to where I was before despite no longer being on my Dad’s insurance. My Dad messed me up. I told him not to do that but he did it anyway.

This new Health Act if it passes through the Senate will affect Everyone.
It basically gives a tax break to the rich and screws the poor and those living with a pre existing illness.

I thought that is what is going to happen but I couldn’t get my head around all the information of the article. I am so screwed if this new bill passes.

To ease anxiety: 1) the House bill goes to the Senate 2) the Senate can, and will, make changes to the House bill (now there are two bills) 3) the Senate votes on their bill, if it fails both bills are dead, if it passes we still have two bills so both bills go to a bicameral Conference Committee 4) if the committee cannot merge the two bills into one bill, both bills are dead, if they can merge the two bills into one bill it goes to the House for a full vote 5) if it fails in the House it’s dead, if it passes in the House it goes to the Senate for a full vote 6) (the Senate cannot change anything to the bill that the House passed) the Senate votes on the bill, if it fails it’s dead, if it passes it goes to the President to either be signed into law or vetoed. It’s that simple.

What can we do? We can call and email our Representatives and Senators telling them how our lives will be affected if we lose access to our physicians, medications and therapists.

This bill will probably fail just like the last one they tried to pass.

I’m waiting to see exactly how this will effect me. I don’t know yet. I think the current people I use it could be a problem however if I get a job and health insurance there it could be better. Don’t know for sure yet. I hope that it is something under 40 pages so that I can read it and not like the 1000 page bill they passed into law in the first place.

It’s not the end of the world, everyone might just have to take Haldol for five dollars a month. Forget being able to pay for ingrezza for the tardive dyskinesia it will cause.
