New drug for me-Saphris

I began Saphris five days ago. I can’t say anything bad about it. I can’t say enough good about it. It has a smooth, seamless effect. Five minutes after taking it, along with 120 mgs of Latuda, I am asleep. I sleep all night and wake up refreshed at the right time. No complaints. This drug is unlike anything I have taken since falling ill in 1963. 5 mgs. wears off about five o’clock the next day.

Glad you found it to be good for you.

It took a while but the Invega shot I take is working wonders with me. I feel motivated to study and my symptoms are at bay.

I’m on Saphris too and I love it. I sleep great and haven’t gained any weight either.

For some reason Saphris never did anything for me for my symptoms, the only thing that happened was I went from being normal to a zombie in 60 seconds flat with Saphris being sublingual and going into the bloodstream though the tongue. Also the taste was horrible. The only drug that ever did anything for me was clozapine.

I used to be on saphris, then I came off it then tried to go back on it and it gave me the WORST side effects readjusting to it for some reason

So don’t go off it

My dr had me taking it in the morning for some reason

My only gripes with it. Made me so lethargic the first few hours each morning

I am talking to my nurse practitioner today about increasing the dosage of the Saphris. I have been having setbacks these last two days.

Clozapine was the best medicine I’ve ever taken too. It made me put on weight so I went on Saphris.

I was on 20mg/day for about 6 months a few years ago and the only side effect I had (aside from massive weight gain) was that it made me sneeze like crazy (like, to the point I would choke because I couldn’t breath before having to sneeze again) immediately after taking it, and even now, 3 years later, I’m still sneezing every day. It’s weird. But it worked better for me than any other atypical that I ever tried. I’m glad you like it!

@LED I sneeze too, right after I take it! Only once or twice though. Its really weird.

Its been weight neutral for me, and when I was exercising I managed to lose 20lbs and have kept it off.

@martinhersey1 5mg is a very low dose. Saphris wasn’t effective for me against the voices and noises until I reached 30mg. And then I had almost immediate relief. I’ve been able to back off the dosage and am now at 20mg sometimes 25mg PRN when my sleep isn’t restful or things start acting up.

@turningthepage when I was in the hospital and just starting Saphris they made me take it in the morning too. It was awful, stupid pdoc. Slept all day, awake all night. I ended up pleading with them to let me take it in the PM so I could be awake during the day, they finally let me before I went home.

I call Saphris the Devil Drug. It worked for my thoughts but turned me into a zombie. I gained weight on it. It messed up my muscles. I couldn’t dress myself & couldn’t pick up nonheavy things. It made me anxious also. I was on autopilot.@turningthepage

@dmdar. Yep it made me like a zombie also. I’m surprised my husband didn’t divorce me…

I increased the dosage to 10mgs yesterday.

Congratulation!!

My nurse practitioner rearranged dosages of two of my drugs yesterday. Now I will be taking 120 mgs. of Latuda and 5mgs. of Saphris. She reversed the changes I willfully made trying to self medicate with 60mgs.of Latuda and 10 mgs. of Saphris. I do feel better than yesterday.
Having trouble with my balance. I started using a cane. I think maybe it’s the Menier’s disease coming back, or simply old age. I started using my bicycle again but it’s getting too heavy to manipulate. I went into town today but I couldn’t make it the last 100 yards or so, so I flagged down some guy in a truck and he went down the block and got it for me and brought it home. Having trouble walking at all.

I’m sorry you’re having trouble walking, maybe it will pass.

I hope that you feel better @martinhersey1 - Hang in there

When I was on Saphris I couldn’t dress myself bc it made my muscles weak

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Menier’s, that causes vertigo and tinnitus right? Be careful on the bike. The first few weeks of Saphris are the worst. I don’t remember having muscle weakness but was tired a lot. That dopeyness went away after a while.

I find Saphris to be the most bewildering AP I have ever taken. Each day, I experience a different set of thought patterns and moods. I’ve been on it for about three weeks now. I can say it is leveling off in the last few days and allowing me to get a few more hours of sleep at night.
