wht is nervous breakdown? is it related to psychosis in anyway?
Nervous breakdown is an old fashioned term that refers to mania, or suicidal attempt or ideation or psychotic episodes.
I just googled it and it said it was referring to a severe period of overwhelming stress, anxiety or depression. It didnât say anything about psychosis.
Are you ok?
I prefer nervous breakdown as a term for our experienceâŚ
I prefer "nervous breakdown: for when Iâm stressing big time. I say âpsychotic episodeâ for when Iâve gone psychotic.
I think it is not related to sz because sz is chronic, while a nervous breakdown is only an acute episode.
If I have to tell people something I tell them I had a nervous breakdown. Its more acceptable to them for whatever reason.
I donât think the term ânervous breakdownâ is used officially by psychiatrists. Itâs more a laymanâs catch all term for any type of psychological dysfunction.
