Negative symptoms or medication?

Ever since I had my first episode and was put on Invega my positive symptoms are under control but I have zero motivation, my mind is mostly blank, and I’m constantly bored. Is this negative symptoms or is this likely from the 12 mg Invega I take?

They put me on invega and while positives have stopped I don’t feel like getting out of the bed for anything.

Welcome, @bemo.

Great name and avatar.

I love Adventure Time.

LSP is my favorite.

It’s hard to tell what is medication related and what is negative symptoms.

Regardless, you’re going to have to push yourself and work though it.

Are you in therapy?

Welcome.

I was on Invega, injections. It completely zapped my motivation. Ended up after a few years switching to Aristada and got some oomph back.

Do you feel it’s worth it since your positives stopped even though you don’t feel like getting out of bed?

I’m really conflicted because In a lot of ways I feel the best I’ve ever felt but I’m getting nothing done and my family is getting mad at me.

I know the feeling my family’s mad at me thinking I’m just lazy. I’ve tried to explain it but I can’t.

Yes being tired is way better than the voices.

Thank you. Adventure time is one of my favorite shows.
I’m no longer in therapy. I have a case manager though and she pushes me to set goals for myself. I’m just very stubborn.

Start with small, achievable goals and build on your progress.

I highly recommend getting back into therapy.

Invega is notorious for this.

Setting small goals does help, but I’ll be frank, I sat like a lump doing absolutely nothing for 4 years. My home and family suffered.

I’m working on repairing that, but it is slow going. I always recommend trying a different med than Invega, once stable, or asking to add Abilify. Once I added Abilify things began getting better.

You could also ask to try Auvelity, if you aren’t sza bipolar. It is basically wellbutrin with a stimulant added.

Could be a little bit of both, the illness and the meds.
