Negative+Cognitive vs Positive symptoms

Whats worse? Having negative and cognitive symptoms or having positive symptoms?

Psychiatrists cant help sh!t, I think its better to be psychotic with no negative symptoms than being in bed 90% of my time and never getting out of the house. Its worse than prison. I am thinking of stopping meds to not have negative symptoms anymore. He told me that he cant help me.

When I stopped meds for 1-2y I had so much more energy, I was taking 5 courses/semester in university and getting good grades. I was in bed only for night sleep 8h. Now I am in bed 22/24h.

Positives are worse. Negatives suck too though.

In terms of negative impact on functioning I’d say cognitive>negative>positive . Historically positive have got the most attention . That’s because the positive ones are more likely to annoy or upset the general public .

My son is in bed most of the time too because he likes it there and he hasn’t had in person school in a year. He has no mental health diagnosis.

Positive is worse. Can be awesome, but when it turns bad it’s fokt op. With me the negative symptoms are only there from having so many positive symptoms, like so much stimulation I can’t react in time to external stimuli. Or try to shut everything of, can’t even watch tv cause it upsets the voices, can’t follow it properly. Stuck in a story. If that makes sense

But I can’t stand the sedation from high dose meds either. For one day I was put on 9mg invega, 1.5 mg of xanax and 1 mg etumine. That was hell… Told my drs to stop the etumine and lowered the invega myself was better after that… So I can imagine if it’s everyday you get fed up…

Yeah what @firemonkey said. I think the cognitive and negatives effect your functioning the most, but people and docs will freak out at your positives the most.

In my case positive symptoms are better. I only have tactile hallucinations which I can manage. My worst positive symptoms are delusions, but I can function without having a psychotic break.
I’ve been psychotic most of my life but I can live with that. But I’m taking APs currently and negative symptoms scare me even though I already have them. I don’t want them to get worse.

I am violent/homicidal and suicidal off meds. But sometimes I think its better to stop meds and die than living 90% of my time in bed and never getting out of my house and never exercising. I gained 160lb since sz, have high blood pressure, high cholesterol and cholesterol pimples on my face. I am just 30y.o. :frowning:

I saw several psychiatrists, they said they can’t help me. One just told me the history of antipsychotics and how some patients on APs couldn’t function in society and had negative symptoms. Dr says I have severe negative symptoms.

If you go off your AP, and, later try it again, it may not help. I get frustrated, sometimes, when I spend a day in bed, crying.

I know you don’t think you need therapy. I “get” that. I guess I only know from my experience in therapy that coping skills and things to try to help myself have helped a great deal.

Sending you hugs. No judgement from me… just want to help you, and I don’t know how. :hugs:

Therapy makes me angry and stressed. Already tried it, the therapist got tired of me as I did 0 progress. She blamed me for not making progress saying that I want to stay in bed all day. She was rude to me.

Hey, don’t feel bad about it. I lie in bed sometimes all day. I find that doing something, anything, on days like that are important.

I wish you the best, bro.

How long did it take before this happened? I know what you mean. I mean, technically, you could rent a small studio apartment and just live it up. I would hate being in bed all the time. I think that they really need to try to give you an anti depressant to see how that would work. Wellbutrin didn’t help me either, so don’t be discouraged.

Also, if you want to lose weight, drinking apple cider vinegar worked for me. It actually worked too well. I was taking it for something else, but ended up losing like 15 pounds a month, despite eating junk food everyday for a while(was in a hotel)

I have a few positives, and no cognitives nor negatives. In the past it was the opposite
