Can quitting cold turkey olanzapina give You a psychotic episode that can last almost a month?
I miss some of my dosage and feel fine, no noticeable change except for extra energy, not maniacal one, but rather one I had before being ill

And when I quit my symptoms appear within 2 days fuel by lack of sleep and caffeine and stress from work so I ended up hospitalised

But I think that one was because I quit olanzapine as on the prescription it writes that quitting cold turkey can lead to psychotic like symptoms.

My doctor is in vacancy and I don’t want to bother her, we have a shortage of doctors and most of them work in 2 3 places

So I am asking you beautiful hearth people

Are you quitting according to Drs orders or on your own?

I am no longer on olanzapine, I quit last year and got into a full blown psychosis just 2 days after.

I maybe did not make myself clear, I want to know if olanzapine can induce psychotic symptoms in people who stop it cold turkey, I know it’s in the past but I need to know this

On the prescription it does say that it may induce psychotic symptoms

I would feel better if I knew that my hospitalisation was because of my stupidity not of the diasese

If it’s in the listed side effects or actions then it’s totally possible. I’d be checking in with your shrink. If your struggling with things then get some help. It may not be stupidity and could just be schizophrenia!

I stopped mine a couple weeks back,
convinced myself i didn’t need it,
made it maybe two or three days before i had psychotic symptoms again.

I don’t know if it was from quitting it cold turkey,
or simply because i have schizophrenia lol
hard to tell

I don’t have sz, I have a temporary diagnostic because j was taking in the er because I did some things, doctors in my country are reducted to giving a diagnosis, if I want one I have to get hospitalised again.

My city is incompetent from scratch, bad doctors bad nurses bad spitals and I am afraid

All’s I’m saying is that if symptoms persist your probably sz. It happens. Especially if you stop something like zyprexa.

It was olanzapine actavis or bloonis. It writes on the box simply olanzapine. I took it on year and it made me worse except for tapering down my voices and delusions it did not so much

If it says so on the prescription I would assume it’s a good possibility. No way to know for sure, unfortunately.

Now I am stable for 8 months on risperidona and everything I do against my doc advice, like drinking coffee smoking and drinking energy drinks it dosent seem to affect me

That’s how I did it to, I stopped it because it made me worse then before. All it did it was tapering down some symptoms and had a lot of side effects. Terrible med for me

How are you @rogueone dio you think you’ll ever manage that 100 points in cricket again?

same here. was supposed to be temporary and fast acting.
the doc said the weight gain was the least of my problems lol
doesn’t feel that way to me

Weight gain can lead to a lot of problemsz heart problem especially diabetes I think, cloug in the blood vessels. And a lot of other, of course obesity if you have 100 kg like I do it’s not so bad except my belly Who’s bigger them ever

It caused me to be pyhchotic to the point i had to get back on something. I got off it cold turkey. I tappered off it last year and thought i was ok, but i almost lost myself in psychosis after about a year

@marlboro . A 100 is very hard to get. I got 62 this last winter which is getting close! We shall see how all this extra exercise goes this season!
