Who has this @anon17552271 ? Your boyfriend?
I think I had some grandiose delusions years ago before I was on medication. But that isn’t really the same thing.
No it is not for sure. Narcissist are always grandiose.
“Malignant narcissism” in an extreme case can be Adolph Hitler.
@anon51414962 nope…
It has been removed from the DSM, so it no longer exists as a diagnosis. If you ask me, it was unmbrella term for people to call other people clinically arseholes, based on a Freudian concept that no one can take seriously nowadays.
Not to say that there aren’t horrible people out there, but NPD was not a good addition to the DSM, a lot of untrained people were diagnosing other peers who were just mean and abusive with it, on the grounds that the illness existed and supposedly an NPD could not accept that he or she was a Narcissist and go to a doctor.
I have two friends who were actually formally diagnosed before the name was removed from DSM, it made them think for a bit, essentially they are just blatantly rude and manipulative, but there is nothing wrong with their brains or else.
I only know they are obsessed with themselves. But i might be wrong. Dont knoiw much
Narcissists are annoying, but they’re only a real problem if they develop anti-social behavior, I think.
Some people in behavioral health are obsessed with other people being “narcissists.” I ran into an A&D counselor who couldn’t stop talking about it. I think she was the real narcissist. Or maybe everybody’s a narcissist… Dunno. I wonder why it was removed from the DSM, and when and how.
Strange I was gonna make a thread on this yesterday but changed my mind
I hear that word but don’t really know wat it means
Maybe was removed because these people are doing well in life in general so they are labeled as “functional and normal”.
I used to worry about myself maybe having NPD. I don’t anymore because I realized that my family had this esoteric saying, “Don’t think about yourself all the time.” Of course I rebelled against this rule, and it has paid off. The family rule was built into an alcoholic family system where talking, trusting, and feeling were never OK. It was designed to keep the dirty family secret – which I’ve blown time after time. In such a system, the individuals exist for the family, not the converse. That’s just backwards, according to the experts.

Looks like I was wrong, it was just proposed to be removed, but they kept it and altered it a bit. I’ll check what alterations have been made and maybe come back to this answer.
I was really wondering when was removed and if that is true.
Also i know that these individuals are most of the times hard to spot for psychiatrists… so i wouldnt be surprised if it is removed from DSM
I’m worried I’m a Narcissist.
Do narcissists ever question their insanity? I think the real, pathological narcissists will never do that.
Maybe you have a healty narcissism. We all have narcissistic traits more or less.
i’ve heard of murderers with Narcissistic Personality Disorder… although I’m not sure whether they commit crime cos of overlapping with Antisocial/ Sociopathy or Psychopathy…
