As a kid it was The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe series by CS Lewis
anything by Kurt Vonnegut when I was a teenager
as an adult Confederacy of Dunces, George Orwell, Dostoevsky (after getting sz its like you’re an honorary character in Notes from the Underground haha), and esoteric books on spirituality.
The solitude of loneliness, just a wonderful book, about China.
Angela Merkel book, learned about politics. And her way There.
Nalle puh or Cinderella story teached me much too.
When i was a child, I liked very much Roald Dahl and Sempé.(the little Nicolas)
Now, i can’t define me with a book… Maybe a book where the “hero” is insecure…
The first one is Star Wars Jedi Apprentice The Rising Force. I was terrified of home intruders after watching a horrific true crime segment on the tele when I was a child. That fear still persists but I would read that book and Obi Wan Kenobi in his academy years fighting space pirates while impressing Qui Gon would make me feel safe. I would imagine myself as Obi Wan and it helped me sleep through the night. I read that book a million times as a kid. It even brings me comfort to think on it now and how much it helped me.
The second one is War of the Worlds. That was my first major read and it introduced me to my love of horror. My dad had the radio broadcast on vinyl that supposedly scared a lot of people, and I listened to it after reading the book.he third one is a hard one to answer. It is a tie between many books ranging from many Stephen King novels to classics such as A Christmas Carol or stories by Mark Twain.
…I’d like to share this from ‘A Tale of Two Cities’ by Charles Dickens. Many people remember the final speech of Sidney but this one will be of particular significance to us:
“Buried how long?”
The answer was always the same: “Almost eighteen years.”
"You had abandoned all hope of being dug out?”
"Long ago.”
"You know that you are recalled to life?”
"They tell me so.”
"I hope that you care to live?”
"I can’t say.”
"Shall I show her to you? Will you come and see her?”
The answers to this question were various and contradictory.
