you should be guaranteed a respectable standard of living
regardless of your capacity to earn money.
Further , schizophrenia should be cured, and technological innovations
like self driving vehicles and other tools of artificial intelligence should be immediately put in place to cut off redundant workers.
If you want to work, do it for fun, but not at the expense of the public.
All efforts should be made to streamline and cheapen everything,
including through firing people who are surplus to efficiency and cost cutting requirements.

There are 3 classes in society. The upper, middle and lower classes. It is the lower class that do not have a guaranteed standard of living and the government compensates this by taxing upper & middle class people.
I believe a rather famous fellow named Adam Smith wrote a discourse on this subject.

The upper class pay less in taxes than the middle class due to tax breaks,
If the government would tax 5% across the board (tax everyones income 5% equally) they’d have more money than they’d know what to do with.

@Csummers Yeah, the upper class takes advantage of loopholes in the tax code. The upper class earns the most money but represent a minor portion of the overall population.I don’t think taxing everyone’s income by 5% across the board would suffice.

The real problem isn’t lack of money collected in taxes, it’s mismanagement of the money they do get.

Poor people shouldn’t be taxed while very rich ones should have a taxation of over 90%.
@zeno A 90% tax on the rich would be unfair and would drive them and their business out of the country. Poor people should be taxed on their income as well but by a low percentage to be fair.
The current tax system is efficient enough to redistribute money from the top income earners to the bottom income earners. However the wealthy are able to avoid taxes. I’d like to see Donald Trump’s tax returns for the last 20 years before he became President.
I don’t think it would be unfair, yes it would drive them out of the country IF there are other countries with lower taxation, but this thread is about a vision of the entire society.
The current tax system is ****, it can’t even help the poor people in their own rich countries while there would be even money to improve the condition of people living in other poor countries.
@zeno The US has the most billionaires and millionaires in the world. It also has the third largest population so there’s going to be a lot of poor people and rich people.
The welfare of other poor countries is the responsibility of their respective governments. Let them deal with the poverty of their people.
The current tax system is justified in that the strong survive and the weak perish.
This unethical system is becoming obsolete and the US will approach the EU one.
The tax system has evolved over the past 70 years since WW2 due to economic prosperity. The EU tax system is varied in each member country. I don’t think the US should approach this method.
What do you think about a Kibbutz model of society, Erez. Does it provide a sustainable existence for those who adopt it there in Israel?
