My teeth are going to put me in the poorhouse

Yesterday, after work my teeth started hurting then my face swelled up. I went for an emergency visit to my endocrinologist today and she took x-rays. Well, they tell me I need four root canals! Christ, I just recently got three done and I thought I only needed one more. My teeth are infected which is why my face swelled up, she prescribed some antibiotics and if the swelling goes down, I’ll have two root canals done tomorrow afternoon. At least, since I’ve given them so much business they gave me a 10% discount or $650 off. But I’ll be paying $3400. I’ve put thousands of dollars into my teeth these past ten years. This should be a lesson to you guys, take care of your teeth and get regular check-ups.

I threw in the towel when I needed three at the same time. Oh yeah, the entire continent shut down for the Rona too, so it was half a year of agony until I could have something done. The something was having remaining teeth yarded out and getting falsies. I have adjusted to them and am doing fine.

It’s sooooo nice to have my quality of life back. (And to not have massive dental bills every three months.)

I am so lucky. As a 100% disabled vet I get free dental care for life. I have a bunch of crowns. Get my teeth cleaned every three months. It’s nice.

My wife doesn’t have that though. We just have Delta Dental for her. They don’t cover much. She had to go see a special dentist last year and all the work was like $8000. I finally paid it off. They keep calling her to come back but she won’t go. Said it all hurt too much.

I think it was a perio something. Can’t remember what it was called. Not a dentist. If you have to go see one of those you need to take out a loan.

This is why I have fake top teeth… I’ve considered doing the same with the bottoms but I hear false bottom teeth are awful

I heard Coca Cola is bad for your teeth. You might need to find a drink that is less sweet to replace Cola.

I spent $4950 for an implant post and now it’s $1650 for the crown. I had to ask for money from my brother. Prices have gone up threefold since I started doing periodontal work.

I’m furtinate that we have free health care here for disabled people and its a myth that British people have bad teeth, over-all Americans have worse teeth then the briitish.

I’m sorry @77nick77 , but I’m confused about the endocrinologist part. (?)
But, I’m also really sorry about your teeth. I had a root canal in 6th grade, four teeth pulled in high school and many cavities. Also a couple of broken teeth from clenching my jaw at night. I haven’t been to the dentist in about 9 years now. I need to go.
I hope everything works out for you. I do think I’d switch dentists, or atleast get a second opinion. That’s a lot of expensive work. Feel better!

I’m glad you caught that. I meant endodontist. Specializing in root canals.

Dang, I went to my first dental cleaning/check-up in seven years, I use non-fluoride toothpaste, don’t floss, and still had no cavities.

That’s an expensive bill. Sorry to hear you need all these treatments.

I know dental work can be expensive. My mom has spend 10s of Ks on her teeth.

I have dental insurance but haven’t seen a dentist since 2018. I hate going, but I do brush my teeth daily.
