My situation and negative symptoms

I am still stuck with risperidone and severe negative symptoms. I read that risperidone is similar to the typicals in that it blocks lots of dopamine and worsens negative symptoms like my Dr said. I can try Clozapine like one Dr suggested but I think I will wait for Vraylar as I am scared of Clozapine side effects, there is a ton and I can’t get outside my house to do the weekly blood tests unless they come do it at home.

I don’t think Vraylar will be enough on its own so I will take a lower dose of risperidone with it.

Anyone improved their negative symptoms by changing meds? What meds?

I seem to be doing good on Rexulti

Is it the only med you’re on? What dose? I was prescribed 1mg once.

I currently am on 3mg Rexulti and 40mg Prozac. No sedation, no akathasia.

for me they do the blood tests at home when they come give me my risperdal consta. I have blood tests like once every 2 or 3 months now.

Rexulti works really well for me. Ive been on 4mg for the past 5 or 6 years and it has really helped. Its rare for me to develop an episode of positive or negative symptoms.

Here I was told its weekly for 6 months, then biweekly for 6 months then monthly forever.

I was on Abilify and my negative symptoms were mild but I can’t take it anymore due to side effects, it made me impulsive. Rexulti can cause the same impulsivity Abilify can cause. I think I am better off waiting for Vraylar.

yea it’s supposed to be like that but over here they are not so strict with it =)
