My Room Photos

I recently moved back in with my parents — it’s unclear how things will go from here — but I had to work quite a bit to tidy everything up. My brother used to stay in this room, and everything was spilled and unpleasant, maybe with beer or something similar (even the books).
Welcome to my space!

That is a very nice looking bedroom. I have been in my bedroom in our house for 48 years now. My bedroom is pretty small. Just the closet and dresser for clothes and a shelf for my remote control cars.

Sorry to hear you’re back with the parents - I understand it’s hard on you.

@shutterbug I’m slowly looking for ways out… of course, I’ll also see how things go with my boyfriend — and maybe I’ll be able to find some kind of job for the moment. It’s hard at home — today was complete chaos, with mom and my brother just yelling at each other. The situation here is getting worse every time I come to visit — if before my brother caused a scene once every two weeks, now it’s happening sometimes half of the week.

But I try to avoid my brother and distance myself from all of it as much as I can. I always lock my room. There really is a risk, but I’m doing everything I can to avoid coming face to face with that danger.

I’m sorry your brother is not giving you space or peace, even. Hopefully your parents are dialing it back some? I’m constantly having to remind myself that my daughter – who had to move back home because of our housing shortage – is an adult and I need to just shut up and give her room to function.

Overall, my parents do give me space – after living separately, they seem to have realized that I really do need time for myself. @shutterbug The main problem is my brother – all of his addictions have advanced to the maximum level. When he uses stimulants, it’s either aggression, loud music, and just total chaos; and when it’s weed or, I suspect, opioids – he behaves quite quietly and calmly.

My parents are complicated, but it’s my brother who causes the greatest chaos. I mean… my parents may argue or scheme a bit, but because of my “dear brother,” I sometimes can’t even get any sleep. He creates an entirely unpleasant environment here… As you asked in the previous post I wrote – whether he steals – he just doesn’t think. His body functions, but his mind no longer does – so he takes things without asking, sometimes even damages them, steals money… My parents are convinced he’s in the “final stage of addiction”

No, that’s hitting rock bottom. They need to toss his ass out, change the locks, and let him know the police will deal with him if he shows up less than a year clean and sober. Their helping him by cushioning his falls is no help at all.

Hey teaclipse, i hope things work out for you, your room looks ok,
I was thinking about redesigning my own living space,

I’m so glad i don’t stay with my mum as her sight got worse & i couldn’t care for her, it would be a really stressful environment for me.
