I used it for 20 minutes a day for two days and boom, hypomania. I was arguing, negative in attitude and angry in mood with my friend on the phone, and angry in mood with my nurse on the phone. I told my nurse that I had told my pdoc that I hadn’t been sad and therefore didn’t need a lightbox and he didn’t listen to me so now this happened. She told me that he ordered a lightbox for all of his patients this year. I told her that wasn’t very good medical practice. I told her that medicine should be individualized for each patient. I told her that everyone is unique. She told me that she would be by my apartment to pick up the light box tomorrow.
so sorry you are hypomanic …I hope you get better fast.
Thank you @jukebox.
I’m sorry, that is slightly scary to me
Wow, scary. Thanks for the anecdote.
I’m sorry you had problems with your lightbox. I have one, and it has a mild effect on me. I have had to cut down on coffee to be less anxious.
What is a lightbox?
This what happens to me too @SkinnyMe.
I’m sorry this happened to you.
Wow. Amazing that something like a little extra ultraviolet light should trigger a hypomanic episode. I hope you’re okay now @SkinnyMe. You’re right though, your pdoc shouldn’t be blanket treating everyone the same. Each person is unique and needs a unique approach to their treatment.
