I was trying to print something out three days ago but my printer died. I called tech support but after taking my computer over by remote control he couldn’t fix it. So he suggested that I buy another one over the phone. So I paid a $100.00 for a refurbished model that copies and scans documents. AND he threw in a 3 year warranty for $19.00. The printer came today and it is still sitting in the carton on my table. It’s like Christmas, I can’t wait to hook it up and test it out. It’s amazing how often I need to copy or fax something over the course of a year. Just last month I needed to copy my drivers license for Medical forms AND some paperwork for a meeting with my apartment manager to determine what my rent should be AND a prescription for some cat medicine. So now I don’t have to drive over to this store to copy stuff.
Where did you buy your printer from? I want to buy a wireless one, but it never seems like we have the extra money. It is amazing how much you use it. In fact while I’m thinking of it I should just go and print out what I need to before my procrastination kicks in. Thanks for reminding me.
I bought the printer from HP with a credit card. HP purchases printers from places like Target that have something wrong with them and fixes them up and sells them for cheap. The guy originally said I could get a refurbished printer for about $40.00 and have it shipped to me. Time will tell if buying a refurbished printer was a good idea. But with the warranty I can replace it for free if it breaks.
Thanks for the info. I’ll have to check it out.
I bought mine refurbished from a small, local computer guy. It works great and was about $40, its a canon. Its so handy to own your own
I still have my old HP 3740 which I have had close to 10 years and a Canon scanner I got on craigslist. I get the refurbished ink carts on eBay for about $13 each and they usually last about 200 sheets. Canon is the cheapest for ink because you reuse the same printhead but they have a spittoon which usually has to be cleaned after a couple years.
The Canon printheads are expensive whereas you usually get a new printhead with each HP cart. Avoid Lexmark and Dell printers…they are the most expensive for ink. My dad loves his Canon for doing art because the printer driver does poster printing. Canon photo prints look really good on the official Canon photo plus glossy paper, but I usually just print my pix at the local drugstore since it is cheaper and their ink is more waterproof.
