I talked to him before Christmas and last weekend. He told me he had Encephalitis. When my mom died in 2018, he had sent flowers to her funeral. But both times I spoke to him, he asked how she was doing, and I had to tell him she passed on. I don’t mind, but it’s hard on him going through her death everytime I call. Don’t know what I should do.

It sounds like dementia. He needs help

He has some caregiver that’s always there when I call. So I think he’s being looked after.

Yeah it’s sad.
Does sound like dementia.
Glad he has a caregiver.

You could stop telling him, just say she is fine and let it go at that. Save him the pain of having to relearn she died all the time. If he is as bad as you are suggesting he’ll forget what you said either way.

I have memory problems when speaking for longer periods of time. Its annoying. I guess its not as severe as dementia.
