Glad you feel good! What med were you on before?

Invega Sustenna

Did you switch from one to the other without a med in between?

When I was to change meds, my pdoc said it was dangerous to switch from invega to abilify.

Went right to Abilify when i switched lol Nothing in between
Hmm my pdoc just thought it was a great time for me to start abilify and no risks were raised

Alright, just curious why my pdoc was so afraid. I can’t find anything online about it.

Abilify did some good things for me, but it got me a little too amp’ed up. I had to quit taking it.

Read somewhere that it is theoretically possible to be on a standard AP which blocks dopamine and as a result you can produce more dopamine receptors.

Now since abilify is a slight dopamine agonist it can overstimulate the up regulated dopamine receptors resulting in psychosis.

This could all be rubbish of course.

Thank you, that makes sense. @TheKidinCahoots is the second person in two days saying they switched from Invega Sustenna to Abilify, that’s why I was curious.

hmm I only switched from risperidone to aripiprazole… also never heard of taking something in between. There is this issue of how to execute the switch. Increasing the one while decreasing the other seemed most reasonable to us. But other strategies like keeping the one you’re on constant and then increasing the new one till full dose, upon which you decrease the old one is one strategy that is also sometimes used. As well as just a full switch. Surprisingly, for the switch from risperidone to aripiprazole the research we were able to find at the time suggested no difference in how these strategies pay out in terms of symptoms and side effects.

Yeah I know, I just posted a pdf I found, a manual to switching meds, in essence. I’m curious only, I don’t intend on changing aps right now.

Well I switched to the injection of aripiprazole so I don’t know if that makes a difference lol

Did you try the oral med first, before the injection? How long are you on Abilify? Glad it’s working for you though…

They put me on invega injection to see if it helped with my anxiety, so sticking with injections was just the logical step. I’ll be on it for now until forever I guess. I’ve been on it for 2 weeks now. Thanks Im happy its working !

Can you sleep?

I have issues with injections, they freak me out so ill be exclusively oral.

How has the abilify been for your alogia? I have alogia too and nothing has helped it so far…

Week 4 and a half and my speech fluency has improved so I’m not ashamed to talk because I don’t have a speech impediment,

I think im going to talk to my pdoc about switching to this med. Speech nonexistant is my main issue. From what I’ve read abilify is good for this:

Do, you won’t ever think twice about it after switching. Its done wonders for me

Some people on here talk about negative symptoms getting worse on abilify. Thats the last thing i need. But there are some really high functioning people on abilify. Hopefully its the right med for me.

I must say as well my ability to think up of things to say has improved as well. I had both an absence of speech and kind of trouble speaking with profficiency and clarity.
