My mind is blank 24/7.Help

There aren’t any thoughts in my mind right now. I don’t hear anything…not even an internal monologue, much less spontaneous thought. The only time I have words in my brain is when I’m rehearsing what I’m going to say. I feel stupid and dull and empty. Why aren’t there any thoughts in my mind? No pictures, no sensations, no emotions, no sounds, no thoughts…nothing at all. Absolutely nothing, just an empty shell.
Is it meds?

I used to get this all the time when my illness first started and a little bit now, but it got better over time with talking more and taking medication. It’s called lack of thought, and to my knowledge it’s a negative symptom. It was especially hard during my catatonic period, though. My main suggestion is try to get put on an SSRI antidepressant; it helped a lot for me.

Couple of things you can try.

Test your thyroid level. It should be in optimal range. Ideally TSH value should be less than 1.0 for optimal function. Thyroid hormone is essential for general well being. Its critical for thinking.

Take omega 3 fish oil soft gel daily. Its good for thinking skills and overall cognition.

Test your vitamin D and B12 levels and correct it if its not in optimal range.

Antidepressants and antipsychotics can cause cognition issues including lack of thoughts so if you are taking any try to cut it or reduce usage.

From a theoretical(talk therapy) type perspective, it is probably a form of “loose connections” only so loose that you’re not able to find words. A different type of well to be stuck at the bottom of.

Me too. Nothing

Which antipsychotic do you take?

My mind is pretty clear. It was a mess before meds. I take abilify 15mg.

my mind goes blank alot too. I’ve always found it very unsettling and havn’t learned to cope with it well.

It’s irrelevant. I’m blank and empty since the onset, and I have tried over 10 antipsychotics

I feel sorry for you, i have had the same symptom, when I was twenty, it was pure pain, i couldn’t feel or think anything. My mind was blank.

I don’t think it’s the meds, perhaps a depression or some kind of self- disturbance / dissociation. Hope you will be able to think again
