My meds made me stupid

Don’t do calculus right now.

Try to focus on getting better and recovery instead of all the negatives.

Jeez.

i want to do calculus though i enjoy math :frowning:

You’ll be able to do it again.

It’s just really the last thing you should be concerned about right now.

I realize it’s something you enjoy, but your job right now is to get better.

Psychosis and a head injury damaged my ability to do math. I used to be a math genius, and I had to relearn starting at basic addition and subtraction. But you can do it. Work on easier problems, and then work your way up from there. Ask for extra help when your classes start back up. Don’t be afraid to use all the resources available to you as a disabled student.

well im not in any calculus classes and i passed my math already so thats not something im worried about
but other classes i may have trouble in… although i was a good/ok student before

and what do you mean by disabled

You said you have autism, correct? That entitles you to extra resources. I’m not sure what exactly is available in your country, but in mine students can have a quiet place to take tests, untimed tests, extensions on homework assignments, and a free period with a resource teacher to do extra studying.

i havent ever got any extra resources except special ed class but that was only in elementary school
i havent needed much of them, i guess

Don’t be afraid to ask for resources if you start to struggle in school. It is fair and right for you to be able to access them.

it could also be the episode which made me stupid but dunno

what do yall think?

You’re far from stupid. Prioritise getting better, and then make use of the resources available in your country for ‘2e’ students .

i guess thats true lol

Medication Doesn’t Make People “stupid”.

Peoples Decisions Are Either Based on Ignorance or Commonsense.

The Medication Can Be Helpful if You Find The Right One or Ones For You.

Be Cautiously Optimistic And Try Not to Wallow in Self Defeat.

No one is poisiong your food and it is a stupid idea but the meds doesn’t cause this for you as you said , so the problem of cognition exists long before you are on your meds

What is it then??

that’s a delusion, nothing else but most likely u won’t get through it unless u are compliant with your meds

It’s not a delusion I’m for real slow thinking now

I am compliant with my meds
I take them every day as prescribed

i dun see a person who think her parents are poisoning him/herself can have enough intelligence to do calculus/ maybe delusion isnt related with coginitive skills, but it sounds absurd, i think they should improved altogether but i am not really sure, maybe a person with some delusional thoughts can be able to do maths but it doesn’t really make sense.

Trouble doing math related problems is my first cognitive symptom I noticed long back ago. Its mainly due to poor working memory. Math requires storing temporary calculations in mind while solving problems.
