My living situation is not bad

I am living with about twenty people in a boarding house People are pretty friendly to me. Sometimes they piss me off but I probably piss them off too. The women don’t bother me too much. I let them alone and they leave me alone, I’m friendly with a couple of them.

On Monday, one of the women invited me out to have coffee with her and another guy on that lives here and I said yes. the women occasionally says “hi” to me and we have talked a couple of times. I haven’t really gotten to know the guy but we have talked a little. The guy looks like he’s been through the wringer in life. My guess is that he’s either lived on the streets at some point or has been in psychiatric institutions. The woman was really nice. We had coffee at the bagel restaurant next door. It was pleasant. It’s was a nice break from my constant worrying about my life and the daily pressures in it.

Do you post from a laptop? In-house computer? I-Phone?

Which one? Just curious.

That is nice. I should take more breaks in life. There is a new coffee house down town that I’ve been to, but haven’t chilled in. Just going by myself even would be a treat.

I’m glad you had a good time with them. It helps to have three people so it isn’t as intimidating to have to keep the conversation going as it is with just two.

Is this a psychiatric boarding home with nurses and staff? It’s good you are getting out to socialize with people.

??Why?? I post exclusively from a notebook.

I’d say that it is a psychiatric boarding house. No nurses on the premises. It’s part of a mental health agency. A lady is hired to run it from her office on the grounds and there is a room with some staff who dispense medication to the less independent people living here.

Yeah, that’s cool. I lived in a psychiatric boarding home for nine years and learned a lot. Now, I live
on my own in a nurse’s house where she and her husband provide me with meals and cleaning. An
elderly gentleman had the other room downstairs but he passed away last July. I have lived here 10 years and I don’t know if they’re going to rent his room. I doubt it. I am doing well here but it sometimes gets a little lonely.

I’m gonna look into volunteering in July or August, my doc said there are a lot of rehab centres but I would love to volunteer in a place like that too, if given the opportunity. I can make some friends too I guess, people I can relate to :cupid:

I’ve lived in a psychiatric boarding home in Oklahoma for about fifteen years. My situation also isn’t bad. When I first got to this place I drank a lot of beer. It probably did a number on my liver. I still look back on those times as fun. I think in AA they call that “euphoric recall”. Anyway, both of the stores in town that sold beer closed down, so if I want alcohol I’ll have to hitch hike six miles to the nearest town of any size. It’s probably a blessing in disguise. It’s been six months since I’ve drank.

Yes, they do. And lemonade and granola bars for snacks. This place is like living in a Hilton Hotel.
