My insomnia has gotten worse

My insomnia has gotten worse over the course of the last few weeks. I’m now not sleeping at all. Please don’t recommend any medications for sleep. I’ve tried them all & they don’t work. I need serious help. I need sleep. These antipsychotics have ruined my life. They’re what gave me schizophrenia in the first place (Abilify) & now they’ve taken my sleep away from me. Idk what to do. This seems permanent. I’ve switched over to Geodon & that doesn’t make me sleepy either. Anyone else have experience with insomnia. Some help or kind words would be nice

Have you only tried Abilify
I found that olanzapine helps you sleep
I’m on clozapine 15 years and sleep like a baby

They don’t work

Nothing sedating works. Risperidone made sure of that. I can’t feel anything from other meds

They can help me?

How do you cope?

Get help from doctors.

Also try to look back and see what changed. Why did you sleep better before. New meds? New dosage? other changes you made.

My dr hasn’t done anything about it so far. I upped my dosage of risperidone a while back & my sleep has slowly been declining & now it’s nonexistent

Ok. You should tell that to your doctor. It could possibly be the cause.

Abilify maybe not the best for sleep, try higher dosage of whatever you are on. Melatonin, cbd, Guanfacine and Magnesium have worked well for me

Have you tried melatonin? It’s not a medication, it’s a natural sleep aid you can buy off Amazon.

I was on risperidone for a brief period years ago and it also gave me insomnia when they upped the dose on it. I’m now on olanzapine and I sleep ok (but I also got slight sleep problems in the beginning of being on olanzapine too, but it went away).

One of the psychiatrists said that going up in dose quickly on a medication could cause a reaction like that.

Maybe you need to be on another medication while giving it time.

But I agree with others, talk to a doctor about it to try to solve it.

Very simply, if you haven’t already, reduce caffeine (green tea, coffee, soda, energy anything) and use magnesium through the skin…4-6 lbs of epsom salts (active ingredient is mag sulfate) in a warm (not hot bath) for 30 min. 2-3x wk or a magnesium chloride gel (use liberally 2x daily everywhere but private/sensitive skin). Nature’s sleeping aid, anti-anxiety, anti-depressant and muscle relaxer. Magnesium is lost through stress—mental, emotional, physical, environmental, and chemical stress. It will take a few mths to fully restore your levels, but you will feel the improvement daily. #1 remedy of the old doctors-now suppressed info. In Europe it is known as the Master Mineral. It was a literal life-saver for me. My 1st husband was schizophrenic, genius mentality, etc. Was unable to sleep for days on end, making him quite dangerous and irrational. He would beg me to make him 4pkg of dark chocolate pudding. I would try to give him a decent meal, but he HAD to have the chocolate pudding. He wolfed it down and was asleep 20 min later. He’d sleep for 2-3 days and wake up in his right mind until he cycled again. Many yrs later, I realized that dark chocolate is the last reliable food source of magnesium. Bodies are that smart. They seek what they need. Magnesium fuels all the electrical activity of the body…brain, heart and nerves. A high-powered brain, such as his and many of you folks will burn through more magnesium than a professional body builder. A craving for chocolate is an indication that your body is desperate for magnesium, I’ll throw in another bit. He was one of the first Ritalin kids…turned him into a meth addict.

I slept last night! Not a huge amount but something.
