My fellow Americans, what are you doing for Thanksgiving?

I’m going over my sister’s house. My brother-in-law always smokes a turkey, and it is soooo good :yum:. They usually have a nice ham, too, not to mention some good sides, pies, etc.

I’d like to watch the Lions game, too, but no one in their household cares to watch football. I’m sure my sister would put the game on for me, but it would mean sitting in their living room, which is in their finished basement, away from everybody.

Oh well, the food will be good.

We are having my daughter, her boyfriend, my brother in law, and my father in law. We will have the football game on. It should be nice. But I live in a small house. I’m worried how we will all fit.

I go to my parents house for dinner they flambé the turkey at 6 pm. Smoked on a Weber BBQ pit. Not sure what I am going to do for lunch. Probably will have leftovers and then Friday I am going to pick up a new puppy.

She is a white husky with blue eyes. The wife says we will name her Sheeba or Chrystal

fn a…I got to avoid some girl from high school who’s crashing my sisters thanksgiving. She’s related to my in laws by marriage, anyways I’m not gonna show up all sz instead of successful adult. I had the biggest crush on her in high school and I don’t feel like revisiting that situation, so it’s just going to be me, some pizza, and a sixer for thanksgiving this year

Never heard of that, but it sounds good. :slightly_smiling_face:

Just wrap some green beans up in some bacon place a toothpick to hold the bacon… cook on 350 until the bacon is done… not healthy but its good…

I’m going to my friends house!

There should be about 60 people,

Only about half of which I know.

It should be pretty fun,

At the very least gave me an excuse to get a new outfit.

I’m not sure what we’re having,

But I’d bet there’s going to be a lot of vegan, GF options…

We’ve already had our traditional Thanksgiving dinner at the assisted living center where I live - turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce, the works. They put themselves out to make us feel good during the holiday season.

I don’t really understand this. If you’re referring to me specifically, I would say things have not been working out as well as you may think, and most of what has worked out for me has done so because I made it work out. So I have no reason to feel bad about it, but rather proud of it.

Do any of you ever feel bad that your celebrating a holiday about genocide? To be honest I don’t think I’d be able to do that. I’d rather celebrate indigonious peoples day.

Keep in mind I’m not American, not sure the difference between your thanksgiving and your Columbus Day but isn’t it roughly the same? Other then the extra consumerism on thanksgiving?

I don’t feel bad about it, just enjoy the time with my family. Being with family and eating turkey, etc may not be the original idea behind Thanksgiving, but that’s what it’s about for most of us now. Thanksgiving has nothing to do with Columbus, has to do with the pilgrims. As far as the genocide goes, it’s sad and everything, but what’s done is done, long in the past now.

Thanksgiving was pre-genocide.

And its more about being with family than remembering the first Thanksgiving.

But thanks!

Also, Canada participated in its fair share of murdering Native Americans.
