I called to find out what my electric bill is, and I’m devastated, to put it mildly. I’ve used up all the resources for the year.

Call the electric company and ask for a review
I would guess your faulty air conditioner is to blame. If it was breaking, it could have been sucking up electricity. Call the company and see if they’re willing to work with you on a payment plan. They usually do, if you call right away.

I used to be on a budget plan with the electric company. I paid the same amount each month then once a year would pay the outstanding balance. I could save up. But in your immediate situation you make payment arrangements
