Last week, I’ve been diagnosed of high possibility of schizophrenia, and I’m taking 3 mg of abilify. 1 tablet before sleep in 1st week, and 2 tablets before sleep in 2nd week. This is my 2nd week. So in what week for myself will be mostly “normal” and I would like to know what are the abnormalities found in myself for everyday functioning? Thanks in advance.
Do as ur pdoc Says…
Peace…
Unfortunately, medication merely treats symptoms, not cures them.
Although, every case is different, it’s safe to as that, if abilify does help you, you’re going to be on it for a long time.
okay thank you ( I’m typing this with a many disorganized words popping out my head). And he said 1 year.
Everyone is different. I personally never got any relief while taking medication from my Sz symptoms, it did help with my depression and anxiety though.
This is NOT me telling you to stop taking your meds and this is NOT me telling you that there’s no hope.
You’re going to be okay, and with time and therapy you develop an action plan and coping mechanisms that will help you be as highly functioning as possible. This diagnosis is not the end of you. Honestly, no one in my life can tell that I have Sz without me telling them and some think I’m being dishonest when I do.
Be patient, don’t put a timeline on it, stay positive, and work your butt off.
Thank you very much for your concern, in the past I was dealing something with something irrational and unrealistic. And when I’m back to reality something waaaay so many problem in my head and brain and difficulty dealing with reality ( I hope you guys know what I mean ). Oh and this is my first time posting in this forum. Nice to meet you all.
You’re doing well being put on that medication. It’s better than what you could have been put on. It works well when you stick to it. Probably start feeling better in a few weeks.
I’ve been using abilify for 3 weeks and it getting me worse. Even I cannot go out from my house as if I’m bedridden except for several reason like go to my psychiatrist. Should I consult him to change my medication or stay to it until several days/weeks or until my next time seeing him?
As long as you stay on medication you may never have an episode. That’s why preliminary treatment is so important for sz.
3 mg of Abilify is a very low dose. It is a difficult medication to adjust to. Stick with it for now I would say though tell your doctor everything you experience.
I’m drinking 12 mg of Abilify now
If it’s SZ, you’ll probably never be normal, which isn’t always a bad thing. However, with proper treatment you can become quite functional and live an enjoyable life all the same. You may be stuck taking meds to control your illness for life, so that’s something to be aware of up front.
Welcome to the site!
I started experiencing very bad side effects on 10 mg and had to stop. I’m not sure if I made the right decision or not and wish I would have discussed it more with my pdoc.
12 mg is within the therapeutic range.
it took six years since I’ve felt as normal as I do now. but that is because of Haldol, lithium, Ativan, clonidine and latuda. plus sarcosine.
Next time my pdoc recommened me injection, how fast and effective is that injection?
And at least would I be able to mind control myself, in a short time? Because I don’t experience hallucination, or delusion
Sorry for many replies, last night, I was done CBT and something resolved as if I don’t have schizophrenia. It was really worked rather than the medication.
I came back to my home country. I came to pdoc here and changed medication into remital (in a change of abilify), frisium, and propanolol.Propanolol really helped me treating abilify side effect.
Thanks for the updates.
Welcome. please stick around, and you’ll learn a lot more.
