My diagnosis is bs tbh

re-diagnosed mixed personality disorder is rubbish, i am just me and i have an illness that i need medication for. luckily my med is pretty good and i dont need too much (therapeutic dose) stops me from regressing lol

no it happened in 2018 i was diagnosed p/sz since 2002 then my new psychedoc told me he was trying to get to the root of it, I have to admit it is better diagnosis that p/sz (i think) but i’m not sure, it still has stigma attached to it

There is a lot of social judgement that goes with a personality disorder.

its really strange bc its a hidden illness most of the time so people are like ‘what’s wrong with this dude?’ they think you are ok but they dont realise you take meds and it can slow people down and with thinking etc,

I wish i could explain to every single person how much a try to do the best i can, i think we all try our best and this should be commended bc we deal with so much shot that if they knew what it was like they’d be like ‘why would anyone even pretend to be unwell just to get out of work’ bc i think some people think that, its real bs bc i wish i could do a proper job but my illness has prevented that, some people judge with their eyes but they are blind to what goes on, if i could convince everyone we do our best in the face of things I’d be a happy man.

I’m convinced you do your best. The local clubhouse radio show and your advocacy on mental illness. You’re doing good things.

It shouldn’t matter the diagnosis as long as you feel you are getting the right treatment for your symptoms.

What upsets you about the varying diagnosis’ you have received?
What do you think it should be since you mentioned they’re wrong?

I think i have residual sz now tbh actually idk if that’s correct.

I’m just going to call it sz lite bc i feel i have improved a lot over the years

A psychiatrist before my second psychosis diagnosed me with mixed personality after seeing me once and then tried to change my meds to sertraline alone and it backfired big time.

I thought sertraline was an anti depressant?

I was hoping i could try switching to a milder med to help me to stop bc i think i might be ok if i can get over the withdrawals but its a bery risky and extremely hard thing to do, actually might need a miracle to happen :unamused:

Sertraline is used to treat both depression and anxiety. I think some other things as well. I know because I took Zoloft for years.

@anon25873142 , When a bipolar person is put on an antidepressant, without any mood stabilizers such as either an AP, or lithium, or one of the anticonvulsants, such as depakote or tegretol (or a few others), that will very often throw the bipolar person into a manic psychosis. I seriously believe this is what happened to you during your last (manic) psychosis.

I’m not saying this is what happened to you, but it sure sounds like it and it is my educated guess.

I would encourage you to contact your pdoc and ask them exactly what happened during your last hospitalization and why.

Yes @skinnyme this is exactly what they said. That it was triggered because I had mania. But they say it’s schizoaffective and want to stick to that dx for the time being.

Oh, @anon25873142, I thought you were diagnosed with “mood disorder”. Sorry, my bad.

Well technically I am. Along with sz.

Cant we just say we are all human and forget about all of these labels? :frowning:

IDK, I think the pdocs get a cookie each time they make or change a diagnosis

maybe illnesses develop, peoples thinking changes, idk

People’s diagnoses often change over time. Not because of disagreement
or inaccuracy, but because people change over time. The term
“phenomenological drift” has been used to describe this observation.
What that means is that we always need to be sure of the diagnosis at
the time of the study , rather than what was written in the chart in the dim and distant past.
