He used to be very abusive but has changed. I mean he’s not a warm and fuzzy kind of guy but he’s sober and no longer violent.
Anyway I called him and started to update him on my health but he cut me off. So I asked him what he’s been up to and he said like one sentence and then told me to call my sister about Christmas and then got off the phone.
We’re not close but it still stings.
I’m sorry you suffered through all that. I suffered a lot too but am grown and on my own now.
sorry to hear about that it must hurt. its painful when you open up to someone and they done reciprocate. Youre a good person i hope you dont lose faith in them. maybe it was an off day. 
My dad was never much for talking on the phone, he would say hi to you then say here’s your mother.
