Every time I see him things are worse. He is a wonderful man and seeing him struggle is awful. After visiting today I couldn’t even get out of the condo building without completely breaking down. I’m so very very sad today.

My father is 87 and it’s tough seeing him struggle.
He suffers with 3 back fractures and a bone marrow disease called Myleodysplastic Syndrome.
It lowers his hemoglobin count immensely.
Leaving him feeling weaker.

I’m so sorry. We just went through that with my father in law. He used to be a big, strong man. He was reduced to a very dependent weak old man. It was awful. But, we kept him at home for hospice and regularly gave him morphine. He got to die peacefully at home surrounded by family. So there’s at least that. But it was still heartbreaking. I hope you find some comfort. And it’s ok to cry.

His body is filling with fluid. He is very very swollen. He can no longer walk. He has always been a very fit active man. Even a week ago he was walking and only his feet were swollen. Now his hands and belly are massive. He is having a hard time breathing. As much as I want him around, I know he’d rather die sooner than later. He is 90. Totally clear minded. He had all his Winnipeg jets stuff packed up to give to me. There unfortunately isn’t much that can be done. Make him comfortable and hope he doesn’t suffer long. I’ve been crying off and on yesterday and today.

So sorry @FatMama and @Vertigo. And to all of your who lost your fathers. Hugs and prayers.
My dad was in the hospital for non Covid related problems. He had pneumonia too. They drained 750 ml of fluid from one of his lungs.
He’s doing better, but he is getting older. And I worry about him too.
