That sucks about your counsellor. She must have had her liability concerns maybe. Did she explain why?
Like Jess said, do you have any respectable volunteering ideas in mind. Cleaning, for example, isn’t as bad as it sounds. It is in fact a valuable employment of your time. People don’t necessarily see all you do when you’re cleaning their environment, etc. But you can bet that they would notice it if they found themselves knee deep in trash.
Education may be a springboard for you too, farcry. Your English is getting better and better

I tried volunteering and feel I was stigmatized because I was 27 and male and “should be working, not volunteering”…but I have a job interview today !!!

Uh, no. That’s NOT low stress. I say this as someone married to a teacher, a 4-H leader, an archery coach at my local K-12 school, a volunteer there for a media program, and an occasional school bus driver.

Teaching is crazy high stress.
When I think of something low stress, I think of work that has very little to do with other people and is repetitive.
Maybe factory work or cleaning?
