My black widow friend

there’s a big black widow in my home office, and she hangs out in the same couple spots. she’s got a web in the corner of the room where she has already caught and spun up two other house spiders for lunch. she’s been here for the past few days and i have really enjoyed her presence. it is fun seeing her propel herself all the way from the floor to the ceiling on a web. i like my new friend =)

You realize black widows are poisonous, right?

I think we have a similar species here…called redbacks. Poisonous and appartently have a bite that is extremely painful but not deadly unless you’ve health problems…

Hmm. . .

What An Interesting Friend You Have.

I’ve Had My Encounters With Arachnids During My Existence Here On Earth.

One Specifically Was, (I Assume), Was A Brown Recluse.

He Hid Under The Ledge Of A Countertop In The Corner Of The Kitchen.

Right Under The Coffee Pot.

I Would Meet Her/Him In The Morning. Smile And Sometimes That Critter Would Slowly Say Hi.

My Dad Would Always Make A Cup Every Morning At Around 5:30 A.m.

And I Would Grab My Med’s At The Same Time.

We’d Kinda Say Good Morning.

And As The Morning Light Drew In. The Three Of Us Would Go Our Separate Ways.

But!, A Black Widow!.

Now, That Would Be A Sight To Behold.

We had a golden orb weaver spider build a web just outside our door that leads to the back garden. She was big and beautiful. She was also a very effective killer of insects. We ended up giving her a name - Delores.

Hmm!. . .

Strange Note: Golden Orb’s Resemble Banana Spider’s.

(EDIT)

Jus Did A Quick Google Glance.

They Are Of The Same. Which Is Fascinating To Say The Least.

Thanx!, For The Tip!.

Hmm?. . .

Your Fact Makes Me Wonder.

Was That Name In Honour Of, ‘Delores O’riordan’, From ‘The Crandberries’ (???).

No, didn’t name the spider after anyone in particular. Just thought is was a name that suited her.

Hmm. . .

Cool Cool.

I Kinda Wish I Would Have Named My Recluse Friend.

:pensive:

KILL IT!!!
They are deadly!

I hope you won’t get a spider infestation. You realize that they will reproduce? I don’t get why ppl love poisonous animals like wasps and spiders. I find all insects disgusting.

I kill any insect that moves in my house.

Love it! Unfortunately my Delores died a few years ago but I still remember her well.

Hmm. . .

Trust Me, Spiders Don’t Infest.

Read Spiderman Man. . .

:pensive:

The danger is if you accidentally provoke it somehow.

I honestly will never understand why people try to bond with disgusting insects and arachnids. Especially the dangerous ones. You might as well bond with COVID in a petri dish.

I don’t kill spiders I leave them. If they’re healthy and I see more of them appear it means that there’s an infestation that can support a colony. I use them like kind of visible meter about whats going on inside the basement.

There’s no good reason to let a dangerous spider like a black widow spawn a colony though, I would try to destroy that spider because an accidental bite could be a hospital visit and I don’t want that kind of stress or to have that much trust in a spider.
