Guy faulks in OZ is just sad. As we have strict fire works rules and bomb fire rules as it heads into summer. So often it’s just the sparklers if we bother. My family stopped doing it in the early 80’s
we have a great time here, there are a few accidents but generally it is nice with proper safe fireworks displays all over.
when i was young me and my friend would use an old teddy bear to beg for money for the fireworks and we said ‘penny for the guy’ and we built bonfires by collecting old furniture and piling it up then we bought fireworks while under age from sellers a bit like you’d buy drugs lol cheaper than the shops and on the 5th we put the guy on the bonfire and set it alight (hopefully before the fire brigade got there) i used petrol one year to start it just as they turned up and lit it just in time lol and they didn’t put it out.
The problem with fireworks where I live is that the people who are most attracted to using them are generally the same people who cannot be trusted to use them responsibly. Makes life interesting.
