Took 4 days off modafinil. Was tough & filled w sleepiness and sucky functioning but made it through & now my modafinil is working again didn’t need to nap at all today and had a very productive study time. (6 straight hours!!) Woo!
That’s great to hear. How often do you expect modafinil holidays to be?
Uhhhh I can’t even fully remember the last time I did it it was a number of months ago. I would say it depends on how often you take it and at what dose. Once I started taking it twice a day I gained tolerance faster than when I was taking it once.
I’ve only needed to do it twice since starting and I’ve been on it almost a year now.
That isnt too often i suppose. I ask because i really expect i will be put on modafinil after my sleep study and the tolerance building Kind of disheartened me to the effectiveness of the medication. But two short holidays in a year doesnt sound too bad
By the way, I take Modafinil, and it doesn’t seem to do much for me anymore.

Yes modafinil is cool because it’s much slower to build tolerance than the traditional stimulants like adderall/Ritalin. You’re supposed to take holidays from those every weekend.
Holiday time! Lol. Kind of funny it’s referred to as a holiday when it’s one of the few meds that actually sucks to be off of.

That’s good to know I really hope it works well for me, I long for more hours in a day. Especially since I will be going back to school soon.
@Jayster if you don’t mind me asking what did you take modafinil for? And how long til it stopped working for you?
I asked my med provider if I was tired all the time because of the disease or because of the treatment we were giving me for the disease. She said, “Honestly, I don’t know. But we do have a treatment for it.”
I really liked Modafinil for a long time. but now, not so much.
Like Anna said, maybe you can try a modafinil holiday. If it worked for a long while it probably still will after a brief break from the

Hey @Anna I looked up medications covered by medi-cal. Apparently modafinil isn’t. Armodafinil is apparently though. Do you know anything about how armodafinil is compared to modafinil?
