MI is just a perception problem

Every problem I have is mine.
Everything wrong in my life I take credit for.
Did anything cause my problems, no.
I caused them by faulty believing in what I thought, rather than what should be, and is.
Did Sz change my life, or did I change my life to Sz with my perception?
Has life been good to me?
Yes.
Has life been harsh to me?
Yes.
And therein lies my answer to all my problems.

You shouldn’t take at least a somewhat black and white view of the world, @Csummers? We’re not fully to blame for everything that happens to us, and our thoughts are just that; thoughts. A lot of this empowerment self help is just nonsense!

You’re right. It’s our reactions and our way of explaining things to ourself in a babyish and self loathing way

Yeah we’ve been through some weird freaking ■■■■ but why sulk and be shameful and weak.

There are ways out of it , they aren’t easy and your pride will get hurt but why chose to be weak

@Csummers

Is the point you are trying to make is that we should all be able to control our Mental Illness?..by sheer willpower??

What a load of hooey!

“Did anything cause my problems?”

How about genetics, environment, trauma…for starters.

Or we are just used to bein big babies and can’t take a hit without acting like the whole world hates us.

It’s pretty obvious that our minds and thoughts effect our world and our perception.

You have to move past your comfort zone to get better.

Gotta take charge. Not in an aggressive way just in a persistant positive way.

Yeah but still there are ways of moving past everything. Yeah some things may trigger you or hurt but why be a coward to your own mind?

“I caused them by faulty believing in what I thought, rather than what should be, and is.”

Nobody caused anything to themselves. Mental Illness IS a faulty belief of thought.

Is cancer just a ‘perception problem’ like your Header states about MI?

Typical response expected.
It’s not about you @PatrickT, or anyone else with Sz.
This was entirely about ME, and my Sz thinking, ok.
Why so defensive anyway?
Your kind of thinking keeps us in the hole.

Schizophrenia is found in both men and women. Schizophrenia is found in people that represent the full range of human intelligence. Schizophrenia is found in all cultures and geographic groups. Schizophrenia is found throughout all socioeconomic factors Schizophrenia is a disease that does not discriminate.

Schizophrenia is not the result of a weakness of character. Schizophrenia does not result from a babyish or self-loathing attitude. Schizophrenia cannot be cured by getting out of one’s comfort zone, and, finally, people with schizophrenia are not cowards.

We already face plenty of stigma outside of this forum, so I’m shocked that you’re attempting to stigmatize the people on this forum.

Black and white thinking has been my m.o. For most of my life, along with catastrophic thinking, negative thinking and magical thinking.
A recipe for disaster and the results seem to be Sz.

Hunh??

I have great parents and come from a wonderful family, yet i STILL got schizophrenia.

I certainly don’t take credit for that.

I’m not stigmatizing anyone. I’m just saying as for myself and many on this sight alot of the time we give up on doing alot of the things we’d enjoy or benefit from by negative thinking and being paranoid. We have the ability to let things go and try to enjoy things but sometimes we don’t allow ourselves to do so. Which is being a coward

Well the stigma is a perception problem. The disease itself is another monster entirely. There is a possibility that the stigma is worse than the disease. As I am pretty good right now because of meds but still can’t get a job for a number of reasons. The stigma had literally cost me a job. 2 actually. Maybe 3.
